Anyone know of a decent unit to replace the wall wart.

5VDC 25VA rated LPS $190 at Small Green Computer

- OR -

the same thing on Amazon for much less. I have one powering my Raspberry Pi streamer. OK, the Small Green Computer LPS has been upgraded with a nicer sculpted face plate.

The one I linked to on Amazon comes with a micro-USB cable connector. The other one on that page comes with a USB-C cable connector. I'm not sure what your Project DAC uses but there are a variety of adapters (like different diameter barrel plugs) that can be ordered separately on Amazon.

The Chinese Studer900 power supply is a superlative piece..... Recommended by the late Duster...... I use it for my SMSL Sanskrit 10th MkII DAC.

I've tried other power supplies, including the iFi and ZeroZone..... The Studer900 comes out on top..... I just hear "deeper into the recording".... Just hear a lot more going on in the background of the performance.

The price won't break the bank, and the shipping is relatively fast (2 to 3 weeks), for an item from China.

For my Project DAC I built my own using this kit off ebay. Added a suitable mains transformer, case and a converted USB socket bracket from a PC. Plus an add on heat sink I had lying around for peace of mind that no components would overheat.

Works really well.

While I use an Uptone LPS 1.2 to power the ultraRendu in main system, I find a cell phone charger works great for the garage based Raspberry PI.

Avoids the false brightness of cheap switchers.

I use one of the Aliexpress 5V units on my Squeezebox Touch and have a few more in both 5V and 12V in a friend's systems for Sonos boxes and SMSL DACs.

Interesting. The LPS you linked to for $90 is exactly the one that Small Green Computer sells with the same sculpted face plate. Their price is $190. The one I have is also the same 'made in China' unit but with a plain flat face plate priced at $80 on Amazon.

I think many of these 'audiophile' LPS units come from the same Chinese sources. I'm not saying that's bad as I like mine a lot but I do find it interesting how certain 'US brands' will take advantage for big profit.

Yeah, I've even seen US sellers brand a power cord as their own and found the exact same thing on AliExpress for 10% of the price...

I bought the MEAN WELL PS for my DAC.
Model: LRS-35-12 So it's a 12vdc / 35 watt which is 50% MORE than the 'stock' wall-wart.

I had to install my own power cord and interface to the DAC. That was fortunately a 6.3mm barrel connector which as near as I can find out? Comes in ONLY one pin size, unlike many of the smaller barrel connectors which need and engineering degree to figure out......

Adjustible within limits, but came already set to 12 vdc

Small, open frame with cover form factor with NO weight specified....

About 12$, so what do I have to lose?
Too much is never enough
