Looks like it might have gone through a house fire or something.

Hmmm, but the 300 series does not appear to be on the list.

IIRC, there was a lawsuit alleging that Krell took on an investor in the same general time frame, but neglected to inform said investor that the US Consumer Product Safety Commission was in a very unsmiling mood.

I discussed the situation with Charles Hansen of Ayre Acoustics back in the day (2009). My guess was that taking in, repairing, and then sending back 2,300 amplifiers would be more than $500,000, and Charley replied, "More like $750,000." But who knows how many owners got the message and decided to do the recall.

Years before, an NZ company I don't know if is still in existence, sent me three integrated amps in a row. All three failed in spectacular fashion and went into thermal runaway. And a little before then, a French tube power amp burst into flame on Sam Tellig, but that was the fault of the US importer who had hot-rodded it to make it "sound better" for review purposes.

All of the above is why I will not even leave a CD player powered up when I leave the house.

Website does state "as-is." Would touch it with a 10 ft pole..., posted on January 19, 2021 at 08:49:14

Rather a shame, as it could be a nice piece for someone, but the $800+ risk/gamble is a bit steep.

Just guessing on the Kiwi integrated, but have never heard of issues with Plinius products.
