Why isn't this on CD? Should be.

Wish I had saved sets of The Tracking Angle and Listener Magazines. I do have a complete set of Audio magazine's annual equipment directory.

Listener was a fantastic magazine, but it ran, like, 25 years ago and time moves on.

I wanted this too, and was told that there were different owners and publishers involved and it couldn't be produced.

I had saved the Listener mag. But now when I read them, the contents seem rather old and out of phase. But my old TAC reads great. Reviewers should tell it like it is, like Peter Aczel.

I rarely saw the Audio Critic around at all - you bet though some of the best audio advice ever was found in that magazine. I really enjoyed it when I found it - didn't it have an ambiguous release schedule and if I recall was somewhat costly because it took no advertising.

There was a recommendation there to use your favorite music when demoing audio equipment which was contrary to what audiophiles (and dealers too) would tell potential buyers. The idea of using the highest quality recordings would lead one to audio hell was a hard lesson and one warned of in the Audio Critic.

You may not agree with The Audio Critic. Nevertheless, it was a fun read. And there is a lot to read. The good old days of the underground non mainstream magazines. The first underground magazine was Stereophile. Then many years later The Audio Critic. To find out more, The Audio Critic-Biline.ca There is a lot to enjoy.

Sometimes I had to wait months to get the next issue and then suddenly it turned into a bulletin format. But I enjoyed it so much and it made me buy Rogers LS3/5A, Advent 300, Kenwood Turntable. Missed buying Cizek when the third kid arrived and the Insurance did not pay for maternity expenses. Loved the discussions with Rappaport, Carter and others. Aczel loved Dahlquist, Quad, DCM, Bryston and Cotter platform for turntables. I still miss that magazine.

Best Wishes

Bill
