This site has dynamic ads. They are a service and whatever that targets the audience. They get paid by purchase or sometimes just the click.

So, a couple weeks ago I was looking for a left hand holster for my automatic. Not surprising the ads show up here. But...

I have corresponded much overseas. Now the ads show up in a foreign language !

This cracks me up really. I didn't uy it, the model they have is not what I want and it is not made for my piece anyway. Another thing about these ads is they pop up for things you just bought ! I bought a monitor and then I started getting ads for monitors. Just how many do they think I need ? I only got two eyes !

And Man use a proxy if you want anything sexual, you get all kinds of ads and if say I did go looking for some sex toys and then later wanted to show someone something on this site they would see an ad for some crazy thing and then think this site is weird. And Google, Yahoo and most of them get into your emails to find things to advertise to you. We know nothing is private but that is getting a little ridiculous.

What a trip.

Shouldn't they know from my buying history algorithm I could never get into those outfits?

You're being recognized and/or tracked by 'cookies' placed on your computer by the pages you visit. There are cookies that are site specific and tracking cookies that follow you from site to site. You can eliminate most of that tracking by using an application to remove some or all of the cookies. One application for Mac OS is called "Cookie", likely there are similar apps for Windows. It finds all the cookies in your system, lists them and gives you a number of choices about which ones you want to allow and which to eliminate, manually or automatically. You will probably want to let some sites you regularly use and trust plant cookies because they save information that otherwise you'd have to enter manually each time you go to the site.

Wow, that must be something.

That said, first, give up Google and switch to Duck Duck Go. The name is odd, but they claim they don't track you. The late, great Inmate LWR recommended it here years ago, and I've been using it ever since.

Between the Duck Duck Go search engine and Ghostery (free) ad blocker, I get none of that crap.

Of course it is not full auto. Round here auto when applied to a handgun means that, as in not a revolver.

Actually I was looking for somewhere on the site to put on the dimensions, the ONE I looked at is for a Glock, and it is not a Glock.

You know full auto is hard to get legal, but that don't befront me. (George Thourogood) because I think they are a waste of ammo. If you shoot so bad you need a machine gun just forget guns, you'll probably shoot yourself.

But now that we are on the subject I might as well mention something that cracked me up. A guy shot himself four times cleaning his gun. Now I don't know about you but I believe it is a good idea to take the ammo out of the firearm before cleaning it. I want to say that guy should probably stick to knives but he would probably find a way to cut both his hands off with it.

I am not a big safety freak either. My saws, first thing is the guards come off. I respect machines. I have been around machines that there IS NO protection from, I am talking about a piece flying 20 feet and embedding into a brick wall. There is no guard for that. I know how to handle my hands around a spinning blade, or a lathe, or a milling machine. Some people do not have that respect for machines and therefore should not have machines. I guess it is pretty much the same with a gun.

In other news, but not new either is a guy who "accidentally" shot his olady cleaning his gun. If I was a cop and went on that call I would tell the guy "Look, I was born in the morning but not this morning". It happened to go off. It happened to be pointed at her. The son of a friend of mine is doing life for something quite similar. The family went almost broke trying to get him out but the gun was in his hand, it went off and the other dude is dead. With that set of circumstances nothing worked of course and a few lawyers got rich.

Yeah anyway, I am looking for a quick draw holster. They are a bit different. I want a right handed one for my revolver and a left handed one for the [semi]auto. I might have to have the left handed one special made, or altered or whatever, do they do that ? But the one they show me is in the link field. It is another of those mile long URLs.

I do not want it strapped to my leg. But that ad shows up on this site, which has not a damn thing to do with guns except in some discussions. It is ridiculous what people coming out of these colleges with marketing degrees do these days.

Like they got TV ads you watch and have no clue what they're selling. And car insurance ads are the best, a gecko, and an emu ? And now an animated owl is supposed to represent intelligence ? Well it doesn't to people with intelligence.

My Mother had a friend named Paul, I think he is dead now. He had a pretty damn good system but insisted that the brand name not be on the front or at least be very very small. He said I am not advertising for them for free.

I myself - when I see someone wearing like a Tommy Hilfiger Tshirt I automatically assume moron. You just paid $30 for a $2 shirt and are advertising free for the goniffs who ripped you off ! Same with Nike shoes, I find the cheap kind just as good. Seriously, I will never spend more than $20 on tennis shoes, which is all I wear. If anyone doesn't like my attire fukum.

...Barack Obama, but I do agree with him that "words matter".

There's too many anti-Second Amendment types incorrectly throwing the word "automatic" around, whether ignorantly or intentionally.

One pro-2nd Inmate here kept using the words "assault weapon" until it was pointed out to him that a slingshot can be an assault weapon, if you intentionally shoot it at someone.

I didn't reply simply to correct you, but to point out that some of these guys might be quoting you at their next ANTIFA meeting, and words do matter.

Good luck with the ad blocking!

"And Google, Yahoo and most of them get into your emails to find things to advertise to you. "

They have been doing this for years. decades even. They offer their services "for free". How do you think they make money if you getting the service "for free"? They do it by scouring your emails, calendar, contacts, etc. for data that can be anonymized and then used to sell stuff back to "groups" of people.

If you don't want them looking into your data then pay a nominal fee and get your email, calendar, contacts etc. off of their site. There are many sites that will do these things for $20 per year or less. Each person needs to decide what is more important to them. Privacy and spending money or loss of privacy and saving money. At least we all still get to chose.

Seems these days if techs not taking our jobs it's serving someone else's some other purpose. I'd pay for a browser and my on-line resources in order to maximize my internet experiences instead I'm forced to suffer reams of unwanted content and one distraction after another day in and day out. I pay for my computer and devices so others can feed my mind.

Well, that was depressing. Think I'll go and sit in a very dark room.

No doubt when I next check my emails, someone will be trying to sell me candles or a torch. Or therapy.

Ugh.

"Smart" devices are the problem. I call them Spy Machines because they are!

I'm one of the few humans I know without a Smart Phone. I have a little flip phone via Puretalk.com that costs me $5/mo for 80 mins which I hardly ever use, but I can if I need a mobile phone to make calls. Most of the time it's turned off and lives under my computer monitor on my desk.

Semiautomatic handgun = pistol
Full automatic handgun = machine pistol
Revolver = revolver

I've fired pistols with such sensitive pulls there was no need to make any pull except the first one. These guns require one to purposefully stop the gun from firing. Truly dangerous in the wrong hands.

"Full automatic handgun = machine pistol"

Those are extremely rare, even those that can be modified for it. But what is the biggest mag you can get ? Full auto and you are reloading in seconds. Or else of course.
