The Bored of Lunatics is happy to announce the
commitment of yet another Industry Sponsor.

Please help us welcome:

Audio Hoarder

Click here to check out their website!

Support from Audio Hoarder will help keep
the Asylum healthy (in body, if not in mind).
Such active interest speaks volumes about the
caliber of many of the inmate's contributions
and validates the original vision for the site.

To create a unique community where
stimulating discussion and interchange
can occur without the normal assault
of ugly graphics, useless banner advertising,
flame wars, animated GIFs, painfully slow
load times, cookies, java script, and the
'nifty' stuff that other sites
insist on throwing at users.

Standard Disclaimer
Notwithstanding our affection and admiration for sponsors,
it is understood that sponsorship does not ensure relief
from incandescent posts; consequently, as a small token
of our appreciation, the Bored of Lunatics has authorized
the purchase a flame-retardant suits for all industry sponsors.

Note; All posts include tax, license, dealer prep,
options and delivery. All comments are subject to
underwriting criteria, and senseless acts of gods ...

Many thanks for your support, and welcome to the Asylum!

Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...
Memo bis punitor delicatum! It's all there, black and white,
clear as crystal! Blah, blah, and so on and so forth ...

I am not the hoarder I used to be as I've happily retired with my modest condo systems, but I still love to look - and dream someday I won't live in a condo. And my other hobby happens to be software development, particularly databases

A bit about my "Audio Hoarder" app. It's not about discussion, not about buying & selling, not even really about components per se - it's about systems and the ability to perform compound system searches with 100% database accuracy. How often do you see a question such as who is using A with B and C - for example who is using Quad ESL 57's with a solid state amp and passive preamp? Well, that compound system search is a snap and would yield my longtime Quad system for starters

You can similarly search individual components by feature - for example show me all hybrid preamps with phono and remote and XLR inputs. While looking at any individual component - like my Quad 303 - you can tap it to instantly see all Quad 303's, all Quad 303 systems, all Quad 303 owner comments, all who favorited the Quad 303, etc. It's actually rather addictive - or would be if there were lots of systems! The database also categorizes every component by "decade first manufactured" and offers filters, sorts, and searches by decade everywhere - so vintage guys can stay in their own world

This is all possible because as owners enter their gear they select the applicable features. It's a minor pain, but only the first person to enter a particular model has to do so - all following owners merely select the existing model from a list (I would appreciate feedback on my categorizations - I doubt I got arms / cartridges right)

One of my peeves on AA is that many users fail to enter their systems at all - so you read an informative post then go to click their systems for context - nothing there. My app will maintain a website of all your systems (and components in your closet). You can add it to your AA signature line as I've done in mine:
See my systems here...

There is a lot more to my little app, I think it would be quite addictive if populated by a variety of gear - especially since each time a component is added it will pop up on your mobile! That would be my Sunday morning. I ask that you imagine the possibilities if everyone enters their systems. I've offered Rod access to the systems entered by AA users so if popular, there could be very interesting integration possibilities - for example instead of just a link in the signature line, AA could potentially pull in your systems + components right there with direct links to each. I have seen forums with text footers for components/systems, but none with direct links to system pictures like this

Give it a try here - you don't need a mobile to run it, you can run it 100% on your computer using an app emulator - not as cool, but it works. See my signature line below - a direct link to my systems!
