Hi. I have an older model power amp that works very well with my speakers (see pic). However it doesn't have a remote trigger input or even a power switch! I'm ditching my receiver that had been handling power switching in favor of a Cambridge Audio Azur 851N, which doesn't have a trigger output. Are there some good options for IR-based power switches? This would be perfect but I'm pretty sure it's discontinued: http://simerec.com/zapper.htm Edit: Sorry I'm not sure if this is the correct subforum. Maybe it should be in pre/amp. Mods feel free to move. |

Your amp has a trigger input, so it's just a matter of supplying a low voltage DC input via a (remote) switch or other device. No need to turn on/off the amp via AC. Something like this would work, or you should be able to find a more robust product designed for home theater that has IR input and 12v DC outputs. Or, you can buy a current sensing power strip that will turn on all outlets when you turn on your music streamer (or other device that has a remote). Trigger Inputs Voltage Range 5 - 18VDC |

Should work. I use this unit to turn on my powered speakers when my TV is turned on (which is in standby when off). Try one and let us know. Good luck. |

I bought one of these for a similar application. |
