There is a lawsuit alleging that Bose headphones spy on listeners.......

On a flight years ago, I asked to listen to the Bose headphones of the guy next to me with my iPhone using lossless content.

What I found was they were incredibly inefficient and dull sounding as compared to my Shure 535s.

No, thank you on multiple fronts. :)

When shopping for noise canceling headphones, to use when traveling, I tried a pair of Bose but settled on Sony. The Bose had a better noise canceling technology but the Sony's sounded better at a fraction of the cost.

At least Google tells you up front they are doing it.

Bose are the best noise cancelling headphones, but the cost puts them out of the running because they are only a little better than brands like Sony.

I loved wearing them but when I heard the price, I put them down and reached for the $4 ear plugs...guess what? No more airplane noise!

I know it ain't right (I also know that ain't, ain't right, should be isn't, but ain't just seems more fun to type), anyway, getting to my point, I'll just say that the joke is on the ones who spy on/at my personal info. Most boring 5 minutes they'll ever spend.

Even if your personal info includes active credit card or bank account information?

(Probably not applicable in the Bose case, but a major problem, nonetheless...... )

Especially if they look at my credit/debit card situation, including bank account! If someone tried to steal my "identity" & all I (well, my wife & I) have, I'm thinking they'd have to put money in my accounts to make it worth the effort. All kiddin' aside, no, I don't want anyone looking at my stuff, as meager as it is, it's MINE & it's all I've got. I was just trying to lighten up the subject & as my wife & kids say, "Dave (or dad),.... fail".

Welcome to the "internet of things", posted on April 22, 2017 at 13:47:16
We're coming into an era where every product needs to find an excuse to be internet connected so it can mine user data.

I just bought an Anova sous vide cooker. It has a smartphone app to monitor and control it, calculate cooking times, view recipes etc. And sure enough, the app insists you create an online account, mines data on your phone, and won't let you use it to control the cooker until you share your location. I promptly uninstalled it before I ever had a chance to use it.

I used IEMs for air travel before switching to Bose, posted on April 23, 2017 at 04:08:26
For air travel, I started out with Etymotic ER-6i, then Shure E2C, before getting Bose QC15. The Bose QC15 sound quality is pretty average, but the comfort, convenience, and isolation makes them worth it for long haul international flights. Ideally I would have both: a pair of good sounding IEMs for listening to music when nobody is going to bug me, and the Bose for meal time, watching movies, and just chilling.

Thats why I bought, posted on April 25, 2017 at 19:28:45

a Sansaire wand. No web app. Just set the temp and watch the clock. Works for me.

I use a Peltor commercial ear protector whenever I fly. What's very interesting is that I've seen modded versions which have speakers in them (no, I'm not talking about the DC headphones). But I'm seriously thinking about getting an Audio-Technica or Sennheiser noise-cancelling headphone. Your thoughts?

:)
