What improvements will Bryston 3-st or Bells 150a have over B-60 amp?

What improvements will occur if I use the B-60 as the pre-amp and add a amp like the Bryston 3-st or Belles 150a when driving my Maggie 1.6QRs? I have a small listening room, and I am forced to sit close to the speakers, so will the upgrade be worth the extra cost?

If your room is small, the B-60 might be enough. If not, a 3B st
will drive your maggies very nicely. I use one to drive mine and
have never felt like I needed more amp. Cant speak about the
Belles amp. Good luck.

I recently bought a 4B ST to upgrade my B60 and the jury is still out. Of course, the 4B has gobs of power and is very dynamic with wonderful bass. Still, the combo of B60 and 4B ST has yet to reach the quality of sound from the B 60 alone. I just replaced the interconnects betw preamp and amp and this improved things. Still not quite there for me altho the wires need at least a week to burn in (Silver Audio).

What I'm saying is the B 60 is a damned fine amp. If you don't need the power, you should probably just stick with it.

Monty:

Why don't you get the best of both worlds, and passively bi-amp with the B-60?? Use the B-60 on top,and the 4B on bottom. That's what I do (although not with the 4b) and it sounds awesome....IMHO. All you need now is a set of "Y" connectors, and another set of speaker cables. (Assuming you can bi-wire your speakers, of course.)

I agree with your assessment of the B-60...treble is where I noticed the most improvements...wonderfully detailed.

I've considered bi-amping. What amp are you using for the bottom?

I'm using the Cinepro 600X2SE for the bottom. I'd highly recommend Cinepro for bass, but not for anything above that. The Cinepro is rated at 31 dB gain, and the Bryston is rated at 29dB, so there is a slight bass boost, but not really a problem. The nice thing about All Bryston would be that the gains are identical....perfect marriage.
