Hi, I have an old Listener magazine from July/August 2001.In an article by Dr.Harvey(Gizmo)Rosenberg stated this word (discombobularity) in one of his articles. He explained that it was a mis- matching of different types of amplification used in bi-amping. It's like using a vacuum tube amp for your high end and a class D amp for your low, or sub woofer, like I do. He claimed there was some sort of minute mis-timing that led to listeners fatigue. Does a discombobularity exsist?, I asked the late Art Dudley, then the head man at Listener and he wrote me a lengthy e-mail, which I wanted to save and lost.I'm unsure of the answer he gave me as I could only skim thru it before I lost it, my computer shit the bed. Harvey Rosenberg passed away some 20 years or so now. I was kind of shocked when Art Dudley took the time to write me such a note. I must have struck some nerve?....Have any of you ever wondered about this phenomena? Take care....Mark Korda |

I would think matched input sensitivity would be more important. Attenuators can address that, but in terms of coherence... I used 2 identical amps when I tried Bi-amping, and I liked it. Report here. "The main concept presented in the system is that using the same amplifier technology for the whole audio range offers superior integration between the frequency ranges." |
