At the risk of unseemly self-promotion, I offer a link to my latest Hagerty column, even if only because I think I have gotten to the bottom of the music-biz legend that future Led Zep frontman Jimmy Page played in Rockabilly Eurobabe Françoise Hardy's "first" album. What a concept. Sad to say... "too good to fact-check." But it seems Page played on a later album, as well as on two of Johnny Hallyday's UK releases. I do want to point out to the incurious who will not click over, that Françoise Hardy brought Rockabilly--in French--to Europe, months before the Beatles released their first album. AFAIK, Mlle Hardy is still alive; Johnny Hallyday died 2017, never having left the stage from the time he was a 13-year old Franco-Belgian Elvis imitator. Hallyday's 79 or so albums averaged 1 million copies each. Requiem Aeternam to him. jm PS: I have to agree with Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, and Mick Jagger: Mlle. Hardy was one of the most beautiful women of all time. |
