I 'harbor' one old reservation (grudge?) regarding you BUT--that aside--there is no mistaking your seriousness and responsiveness to others' questions and going out of your way--beyond the call of duty?--to address each and every issue that gets brought up regarding you, personally, or the publication you represent. That is highly commendable. You've even stooped so low--almost lowering yourself in the process--as to answer the likes of two inmates (!) who hardly registered worth. What editor of *any* hobbyist/specialist magazine would have done that? I search in vain.

Yours appreciatively,

G. Lewis

Thanks Mr. Lewis. I admit it is unusual, but it stems from my
attitude to the role of a magazine, which is not to hand down
received wisdom but to develop an ongoing dialog with its readers.
You can read an essay I wrote on this subject at
http://www.stereophile.com/asweseeit/371.

And if anyone is going to be attending HE2004 in NY this weekend, I
would be delighted to chat in person about any issues people might
have with Stereophile, not only at the "Ask the Editors" session on
Saturday afternoon, but also in the corridors of the Hilton.

John Atkinson
Editor, Stereophile

I must say it is refreshing to see such openess in an editor, and I think Stereophile has done well to embrace the new publishing paradigms that go beyond the print product. Looking forward to the show this weekend, perhaps I can find some more cheap preamps. I'll look for you in the Musical Fidelity room, your the geezer with the golden ears, right?

Geezer is usually defined by getting a discount on breakfast at I-Hop.......Don't think John qualifies yet!

Me too. The only real geezer I ever see is the one, posted on May 19, 2004 at 12:02:01
that looks back in the mirror every morning. I still can't figure out who he is.

John actually does qualify. If he asks.(nt), posted on May 24, 2004 at 13:04:14
