Greetings

Though I have a semi-antient budget system (Onkyo intergrated, Tannoy Saturn on Heybrook HB1S stands,Rega P3/Goldring 1042 and Marantz CD63II KI) I would like to improve its sound. I am using QED Qnect 2 for interconects and Qudos for speakers. Currently, the CD player is giving me better sound than the TT but that is another (sad)story which I intend to address later.
I find the Qudos/Qnect 2 combo to be adequately bright but lacking in detail and timbre; the bass is 'OK'. I would like to improve on this with a sensible outlay, i.e. Belden, et al.

Thank you for your advise, suggestions and recommendations.

The DIY Belden can often outperform (opinion and personal experience) most of the entry level and mid level cables out there, and when you get intot eh realm of the high ticket cables, it is more personal preference than a matter of which is best. System interactions and individual prefferences make the top of the line stuff hard to deal wioth other than to listen for yourself.]

Those who have built the DIY cables based on my recipes have not been dissapointed with the results, the only ones who did not end up using them in their systems preffered some retail high ticket cable slightly more.

Check the notes out at my website, URL in the FAQ section here.

John, what do you consider to be a mid level cable? I have a decent Tara Labs cable that sounds good. I'd be willing to make the DIY but only if it's better than what I have.
