I have long been a wire skeptic. Recently I find myself in need of some new, flexible power cords. So I contacted The Cable Company, and "borrowed" an Audience Forte F3 (10 awg), and 2 Wireworld Stratus 7,
which arrived today. I unboxed them and let them warm to room temp. A
while ago, I connected the Forte F3 to my power regenerator, which feeds power to all my other pieces. I have yet to put the Wireworld pieces to work. The Forte F3 (10 awg) replaces an Audioquest NRG4 (14 awg). I'm astonished by the improvement. It seems I am hearing a lot more detail from a recording I'm very familiar with. And the sound seems tighter,
more focused, less fuzzy. Mind you, the recording in question is a cd that was manufactured almost 30 years ago, and the material thereon is from the 1930s and 1940s. The music seems much more "present".

Right now it's 11pm, so the power grid is quieter than during the day and early evening, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. I suspect yes, but I don't think the time of day can make as much difference as I (think I) am hearing. I will listen to this same disc in the morning and tomorrow early evening and see if the same improvements are manifest.

Further reports forthcoming ...

Well you are moving from a 14 awg. cable to a 10 awg. cable into a device (power regenerator) that probably draws significant current. It is not surprising to me that you heard a difference. A more interesting comparison would be between the Audience and a generic heavy-duty power cord of the same awg. Maybe such a generic would be available at Home Depot etc.

I experienced much the same thing when I borrowed three Kimber Palladians from a reviewer friend twenty odd years ago.

Cryo'd, perhaps? Controlled for directionality? Maybe but afaik only AudioQuest does that for power cords. But maybe.

It wobbles the mind, no?

BTW, Audience makes some really good stuff.

Whoa! What!? They believe in listening tests?! Are they out of mind?! Nt, posted on March 3, 2023 at 08:02:18
