Checked speaker connection in back of integrated amp. When done I turned on power and got a steady 60hz hum coming from the amp. When I fiddled with the RCA end of my ICs, I could stop the hum by bending the IC part nearest the termination. If I moved it slightly, the hum started again. I resituated the amp in its usual position, reached behind and wiggled the IC til hum stopped. All now seems fine, but what is going on? Have I screwed up the IC by over bending in during re-placement of the amp at a previous time. Sorry for long post but these ICs cost $800 & I'm freakin' out. Can anyone offer help? Thanks.

The IC could have a bad solder joint, or the equipment it's plugged into could have one where the RCA jack is connected.
Try another IC on the same RCA to see and isolate the problem.

If it is the IC , and you are not a DIYer,and can't fix it, you can find lots of replacements for less than $800 that probably sounds better.

Thanks for the response. But I now have a JackAss head on my shoulders cuz the problem turned out to be a bypass switch on the amp that I inadvertently flipped to active. I shut it off. Humming stopped. WHA-WA-WAAAA!Cue closing music from The Three Stooges.
