In 1990-91, my friend Tuyet and I were both sophomores at UC Santa Cruz. I lived at Crown, while she was in the nearby/adjacent Merrill. That year, because of our class schedules, Tuyet and I actually got to spend a lot of time in each other's dorm room. At the end of 1990, she was in my room, while the rest of the floor loved Duran Duran's "Serious." Those are wonderful musical moments, you never forget.

I'm not sure what Tuyet was holding or looking at. She and her roommate had a little mini-stereo, with cassette and AM/FM. In that dorm room, the mini-stereo couldn't really pull in any radio stations cleanly. It did have an Auxiliary input. However, instead of two RCAs, the Aux input was a single 3.5mm headphone jack.

Tuyet and her roommate had CD players at home, but not in the dorm. Thus, they always wanted to borrow my Sony D-10 Discman, in order to play their CDs. In order to use that Discman with their mini-stereo, we had to go to a Radio Shack or similar-type store, and get a patchcord with 3.5mm mini-jacks at both ends.

The Kimber GQ-Mini-Cu can be ordered with 3.5mm headphone plugs at both ends.

By 2005, I had heard about the Kimber GQ-Mini-Cu. Due to the iPod, and mini-stereos with 3.5mm input jacks, demand grew for cables with mini-jacks at both ends. Back then, the GQ-Mini-Cu came in a plastic clamshell packaging.

Hmmm, apparently, Kimber once offered this model with 1/4" headphone plug or XLRs. I'm not sure if I have seen these on a GQ-Mini-Cu. As of this writing, I also do not have any meaningful experience with the HB (hybrid copper and silver) and AG (all-silver) versions of the GQ-Mini.
