Got some Pangea AC-9SE to replace the stock cords that came with my Schiit Vidar's running in mono.

I have not replaced a power cable in an amp as my last amp was a Mark Levinson 333 with a huge factory non-removable umbilical that was not detachable.

Out of the box this upgrade is huge. A veil has been lifted. Dynamics have improved. Timber is clearer. It will be interesting to see how these do after some hours.

These have insane girth. They are bigger than a garden hose. And about as flexible as a frozen one.

So far happened with them as keeping budget minded with the current system I have.

Had to turn the electrical outlets 180 degrees to accommodate. You are not going to coax these cables in any way to move.

That stock pc looks like it's 18awg. The Pangea is 9awg.

Diameter mm Area mm2
18 ga 1.0237 0.823
9 ga 2.9064 6.6342

Based on size difference alone you will hear something different,
what with the pangea having 3 times the diameter and 8 times the area
of the stock cord.

When one uses a PC as heavy and stiff as this, it needs to be longer to accommodate the twists and turns.

The one in the picture looks to be .6 or 1 meter. I had an AC-9 years ago and luckily it was 1.5 meters. 2 meters would have been better.

From the Pangea web site: "Despite its name, the AC-9SE MkII isn't, in fact, a nine-gauge cable. It's actually a seven-gauge cable, which means it's even heftier than the nine-gauge!"

Maybe not really better but certainly stiffer!

They are one meter. I thought heavily about the half meter and almost think it would work as I can have the amps right by the outlet. But these things are ao huge and stiff I'm not sure it would go from the outlet to the floor at half meter.

Thanks for the review. BTW, what brand and model of the speaker cable you are showing in the picture? I really like the see through look.

peter3;

Nothing special. Just took this from Parts-Epress:
https://www.parts-express.com/JSC-Wire-100-ft.-18-AWG-Speaker-Wire-Cable-Clear-USA-100-121?quantity=1

Pulled it apart and put into a 4-wire braid. Sounds much better than the same wire off the spool when A-B'd.

I am not using connectors on either end. This is as thick as I could get into the Banana openings on the Maggies.
