All four of my grandparents were born in the Hawaiian islands, during the early 1900s. My paternal grandparents moved to California, and were buried there. But my maternal grandparents have lain at Diamond Head Mortuary (above). At all costs, avoid the midday Hawaiian heat!

My maternal grandmother was originally from the Big Island's North Kohala, possibly Hawi. If you go to the end of the road, you can make the steep hike down to Pololu Valley. As an audiophile, who knows what your musical inspiration will be, in this lush valley?

Almost all of my relatives moved to Oahu. Mystery solved. That is where my old AudioQuest Type 4 (originally purchased in late spring 1990) still resides. My relative complains (rightfully so) that her brother and other males get to go topless, but she doesn't. Oh well, she has always been good with small animals, even if the poolside bugs get into her bikini top. Interestingly, she's afraid of big dogs.

I don't know how she does it. Here in Oakland, my relative went into this "peaceful persona," and somehow got a little lizard to crawl on her. Maybe it was 'cuz she was topless (just kidding!).

It's not Hawaiian heat, but when the AQ CV-4 was on an audiodharma Cable Cooker, the latter ran warm. Having Cooked an earlier sample, we learned that optimal Cook time for the CV-4 is around 3 days. 4 days is too much, and the over-Cooked CV-4 will then sound muffled, slow, bloated, and lacking in treble. You may like standing on the Pololu Valley floor. Or, you might prefer standing at a higher elevation, looking down into the valley. As for the CV-4, get it off of carpeted floors, which act as an electrostatic field.

Maybe it's not quite like dangling your feet into water. But if your shelf extends beyond the amplifier's back panel, the leads on our spade-equipped speaker cable might kink. Note that the AQ CV-4's black-sleeved leads are 3.5" long, but are very flexible.

If you have a bi-wire speaker, with closely-spaced terminals, attaching spades to the top posts might be challenging. Hmmm, maybe the little lizard has an easier time, clinging to vertical surfaces!

Once Cooked and settled, the CV-4, though many times the price of the old AQ Type 4, is the superior-sounding product. Because they score evenly across the board, the Type 4 and CV-4 share a familial resemblance to each other. However, the CV-4 is mildly more transparent and free of obstruction. As long as she doesn't have to deal with big dogs, my relative becomes more relaxed, and can lure small birds, insects, mammals, and lizards. That's kind of what happens, as you go from AQ's Type 4 to CV-4.
