Specifically a pair comprised of 1 MALE RCA to 2 FEMALE RCA's.

I'd rather have cables than the little machined brass solid connectors. When you put 2 heavy ICs into the brass units, the weight and the cantilever length can kill panel-mount RCA sockets on your equipment.

I tried a pair of AudioQuest Y-cables and found one was intermittent. It took a day or 2 to figure out that was the problem since I was swapping appurtenant equipment and cables, and it really bummed me out!

TIA

A high-performance DIY build would be the way to go for a critical listening application. However, this consumer grade Monoprice 12-inch Y-adapter looks like something interesting to try. Seems to feature a 20 AWG center conductor, likely with a foamed polyethylene dielectric, and double braided copper shielding, and decent connectors. It's on sale for 56.11% off regular price. It might even sound better than a machined brass single-piece version, and a Y-adapter that features a flexible cable interface is also what I would prefer, mr.bear. Monoprice also has a one female rca jack to two male rca plugs version.

Thanks again, Duster. I hate adding extra RCA interconnections to the system, but it's necessary in this case.

I have had many cheap reliable Monoprice cables through the years, but none quite so 'deluxe' looking! Couldn't build a pair like this for $11 bucks... I'll post on how the soldering looks.

I have these in my system now and, as far as I can tell, they have no "sound" of their own (within the limits of resolution of my system). This may be the best one can hope for from a unit like this and is not meant to be "damning by faint praise." I can recommend these for non-critical applications.

For $15 bucks on-sale, delivered, they represent the price/performance goal that works for me. The assembly quality seems quite good though I have not examined the soldering yet. The plugs are the heavy generic eBay "Gold Plated PHONO RCA PLUG Locking Connector" that cost a little under $4/each, shipped free from China. Not my preferred connector-- my first experience with locking RCAs actually. A funny thing is that the female in-line connector has a loose outer shell to match the appearance of the males... it just spins around.

Glad the product is satisfactory. As far as inexpensive rca connectors go, the one Monoprice implemented is one of the better ones, with a one-piece solid connector body and a set-screw strain relief method. I'm not a fan of locking barrel rca connectors other than the WBT NextGen, of which the ground contact must be compressed against the rca ground shroud in order for the rca connector to actually function, since locking barrels tend to be unnecessary unless used with one of the very few rca jacks that are undersized, and the locking barrel function tends to degrade the sound, including when torqued too tight. The barrel should only be tight enough so the barrel doesn't wiggle.
