 Hi,

Looking for some 22, 23 or maybe 24 gauge hookup wire for wiring up a preamp. Not a wire aficionado so I thought you folks might offer some recommendations. I suppose I'd like Teflon insulation and wire that has been polished..?

 Lots of options for this, and probably twice that many opinions. :)

I like the Neotech UPOCC copper wire. Available with teflon or PVC insulation, and in solid or stranded (solid core will be easier to use for chassis wiring). They also have a silver continuous cast wire if you have a preference for that.

 I have used the Neotech wire and liked it very much. I have also tried the VH Audio UniCrystal OCC wire and I think I like it better. It is more expensive but sounds more relaxed to me. I have made interconnects and crossover to speaker driver connectors with it. It is very easy to work with. Yup, lots of opinions.

 You can try the Belden 1701LC which contains 4 twisted pairs of 24 AWG solid core conductors in teflon insulation. Besides the Kimber TCSS, it's the only teflon insulated non-silver coated wire that I know of which can be had quite cheaply. The twisted pairs are contained in a PVC outer jacket/sleeve that can be very easily stripped off. As hook up wire it sounds quite smooth and extended. Give it a try - not much to lose at less than $0.2/ft per conductor.

 21 AWG or 24 AWG VH Audio UniCrystal OCC copper hookup wire with AirLok (cellular FEP Teflon) dielectric is outstanding.

 I used a 50' roll of NOS/NIB Belden 22 gauge solid wire, that I picked up on flea-bay CHEAP, for my last few DIY amplifiers.

 Consider going with the 21 or 22 because it's larger diameter and will sound better, IMHO. I'd also stay with solid for better sound. The VH stuff is solid. That 21 AWG looks like the best recommendation. T456

 21 AWG VH Audio solid core OCC copper hookup wire with AirLok dielectric (cellular FEP Teflon similar to Gore-Tex expanded ePTFE Teflon dielectric) is relatively inexpensive and easy to build a simple unshielded twisted pair with it. I'm sure you would enjoy building a pair of DIY interconnects with the wire based on past posts, along with selecting a set of rca connectors that may further provide what you seek in an interconnect cable, Tweaker456.

 I went with Onix rca's and high purity OFC 16 AWG magnet wire for my main system interconnect. While the Onix connectors were somewhat leaner than your suggested Furutech connectors for the most bass, the Onix were much superior in general. IMO. Both connectors are gold plated copper. I run them parallel since I have found that twisting wires degrades the sound. I get no audible RF like radio. I'll admit they don't look too good. It's the best I came up with with what I tried and heard along with my general point of view, solid wire, large gauge and pure cu. T456
