Beware of counterfeits, and/or misleading online product listings.

I'm not even sure what's listed is counterfeit. Misleading though, to be sure. The length isn't mentioned in the ad that Used Hi-Fi linked, only a picture that shows a 100 foot spool. But if you look at the same seller's other ads for different gauges of the Cardas wire, those listings are for a 1 meter length. And at that length, their prices are more than 2X what you can buy it for from a US vendor like Sonic Craft (and almost 3X if you add in the shipping). I guess they could be selling a counterfeit for 2X the price and really laughing their butts off. :)

To Used-Hifi, sorry I can't help with your question of where the wire is made as I have no idea where it comes from. But even if it is made in China, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that...there are good quality goods that come out of China, just hard to separate the good from the bad at times.

Cardas is made in Oregon. 100%. USA., posted on March 26, 2017 at 19:00:01

That was kinda uncalled for, honestly. The OP had a reasonable question, or so I thought anyway.

Yes, Cardas is located on the southern Oregon coast. I seriously doubt they have the capability to manufacture the intricate wire configurations I see in their cable ads in house. My bet is the raw cable is manufactured by a large cable company to their specs, and Cardas cuts and terminates it.

More info. Calling them might also answer your question.

Here's a response from Cardas:

-snip-

Thank you for contacting Cardas Audio.

The short answer: Cardas copper and cables are all American made from the drawing of the copper to the final hand termination. Of course not all of this process happens at our main factory in Oregon but it does all happen in the USA.

The listing in the link you provided is vague at best and could be anything. I recommend buying from an authorized dealer.

Cheers,

The fact that a product is listed by a Chinese seller doesn't mean that the product was manufactured in China.
