DHLab T14 vs. Harmonic Technology Pro-11

Has anyone got a chance to do this comparison? I desperately need speaker cabling and these two seem to be in the right price range and have received lots of favorable reviews.

Due to pricing differences I'd probably either go w/ biwire DHLab or single-wire HTs.

Associated equipment: Rega Planet, Rega Mira, Snell JIV, Harmonic Technology Truth Link Interconnects.

Thanks for your input.

John

I haven't compared them, but I would caution you.

Some folks think that plated cable can sound bright.

OTOH, single wiring requires a good jumper.

What are you using now?

Welllll... yeah, I heard that about silver coated copper as well. But compared to the DHLabs BL-1s, the T14s have received true praises, I think. I've been using a pair for a year, and even on a relatively low-end system, it still adds to the overall balance without making it bright.

Granted, it's a lean cable -- many people use double runs to really get the bass across.

Completely generic wire - I'm fairly certain I could get better performance out of a bunch of brass finishing nails soldered together from my amp to speakers. Seriously, its the stuff that came w/ my integrated all in one 2x tape deck, turntable, tuner, amp, preamp w/ detachable speakers... it's rotten.

Its probably a little premature since the Mira and the HT TruthLinks aren't even arriving until the end of the week (using an Onkyo AV Reciever and AudioQuest Topaz currently). I know I'll need to let all of that soak in before making a decision - I'll probably pick up some bulk wire from Radio Shack for a couple weeks to tide me over. I'm certain this is a huge weak spot in my system.

I'm basically looking at these 2 based on strong reviews and the price isn't too outrageous - although I can pick up a biwire set of the DHLs for about 70% the cost of a single run of HT.

I agree and hate to mention things like that. It's all system and preference dependent. Unfortunately it all comes down to try it and see. Glad it works for you.

If you can, try to get them both at one time.

The Cable Co can send you various ones to try: http://www.fatwyre.com/

In the meantime, the RS Megacable isn't bad. You might also look at some of Jon R's DIY recipes.

Well, back when I bought it at a major discount, it was either that or some AQ Type 4's.

I think the T14s are in a completely different class.

Ugh... the Cable Co are such ripoff's. The 15% they charge is just a bit much. Luckily I never had the urge to borrow NBS Statements. :D

I'd like to recommend both Signature Sound and also just direct from DHLabs. They both are great to deal with and would lend you the T14 for a home trial. Good luck!

I haven't made the comparison but I'll swear by the T14. So will my guy at my audio shop. I'm running them on the front 3 of what is supposed to a "bright" system but I've never noticed that particular problem
But then - it's your ears - Try both if you can (but I'd still go with DH Labs )

How about the bass leaness others have mentioned? Do you have a shotgunned pair? Biwire?

Thanks,
