I see a lot of attractive used equipment on various Japanese used audio sites. All of their home market equipment is designed for 100v 50hz, and would need a step down transformer for safe use in the US.

I can get a wall wart, but like all things power, details matter.

What is the best way to step down voltage for safe use ?

Am I wrong to think that an effective unit would also provide a degree of power conditioning ?

As a start, how does this one compare to other options ?

You can just use a 12 to 20 volt filament transformer. Look up "bucking transformer".

'Tre' is correct in telling you to get a Buck Boost Transformer.

I use one with my Accuphase Integrated amplifier.

Purchase on Ebay for next to nothing.

If you cannot follow the electrical connection diagram that comes with the unit, have an electrician wire it up for you.

I do have an a simple step down transformer for the above purpose.

If you want to pay for shipping, I will be more than happy to send it your way.

I live in Michigan.

P.S. I connect it to a Furman Power Plant that shows Voltage in a digital format: normally is shows 101 to 103 Volts.

The Buck Boost model I use is ACME. 1.5KVA. No.T-1-11684. Primary Volts 120x240 and Secondary Volts is 12X24 50/60 Hertz.
