Are there known and solid Mods/Updates one can due to the ARC D130 amp to upgrade its performance significantly. Or no, it is what it is. Asking in behalf of a friend.

I do not know of any right off.

Just my opinion, but I have owned a lot of ARC gear. Some of the SS stuff is a love/hate relationship. I loved my D52B. I hated the D240.

It sure seems like anything ARC is going for crazy high prices on the used market. I would try a different amp and sell the ARC if they are unhappy with it. I think modding it will decrease the overall resale value of an ARC.

My experience with high end SS is it has to have "good bones" right out of the box. If this amp isn't doing it for you then let it go.

It's the amps topology and design that's not agreeing with you. And I don't see that as "mod-able" by the average audiophile without a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Been there - sell it. I tried to "fix and mod" some stereos, only to end up with something unsellable that I still didn't like.

So it'll certainly need recapping. If it were me I'll have it recapped by a trusted tech or better yet send it to ARC for a proper do-over.
