 Hello, I am very new to the audiophile territory. i have the opportunity to buy luxman R404 in about 50$ and also the sansui 771 in 200$, both good condition and working. i heard many good things about the sansui 771
but was also recommended the luxman, is this luxman r 404 any good at all?

 Luxman is highly regarded and , generally speaking, the brand probably occupies a higher ranking than Sansui.

Both receivers are of similar facilities and power output so whether either is suitable for you will depend upon your speakers, room size and listening preferences. Also $50 v. $200 might influence you too :-).

 To me Luxman is a great brand. And only $50. I would assume both are in good working condition.
