Asked below but no takers and since it was buried in another post thought I would ask again more directly. Should the Bottom part of the AT120E that is at the front of the cartridge be parallel to the record?

You seem to be having a significant problem with IGD these days. I don't remember any of that sort of problem when I visited you. Is this something new?
If you want to level your cartridge, you need to adjust the headshell mounting surface to be level with the vinyl surface. In other words, the top of the cartridge body and the underside of the headshell should be level with the record playing surface.
If you continue to experience IGD, you have something seriously wrong. I don't believe IGD is caused by incorrect VTA or incorrect alignment unless your cartridge is terribly misaligned. I've been playing records for more than 40 years on high-end turntables and I've never been bothered by IGD.
I hope you find your problem.

John Elison
It has been there, just worse lately I guess. By the way, I can't remember if I actually asked. Are you open the Friday after Thanksgiving for a get together? I would have all of the morning and a good part of the afternoon for record shopping and lunch.
I'm pretty sure the day after Thanksgiving would be good with me. Bring a couple of your LPs that exhibit IGD and we can check them on my system.
Best regards,
John Elison
Cool, sounds good to me! We can talk more when it gets closer.
Not as dynamic as Dyna xxii but otherwise love it.
So far it seems nice. Not sure I like it better than my Denon 160 but I wanted to try something new. But initial impression was that it is a good cartridge. And there is a lot of break-in to do and some IGD to resolve before I make any final assessments. I will keep listening and see what I think! Thanks.
YMMV, of course. Set it where it sounds best to you.
Opus 104
So I think I will take people's advice to dial it in then don't worry about it. But I am sure that the VTA could use some adjustment given how the 'table was initially put together. And my hope, with my reading, is that it will help with the last of the IGD. I am not sure that raising it up when the needle looks to be really close to perpendicular, if not pointing a little to the rear of the cartridge, makes total sense but I would like to play around with it a little and see what happens. But if I do raise the arm up the front of the cartridge will be more horizontal with the records so it seems worth a try. Now to do a little research on the best VTA adjustment method for a Rega!
If you have the right arm (RB251/301) or any 3-point mount, one of these.
Opus 104
RB300. I was thinking about some of those adjusters that you mount in the armboard and can screw up and down. I have done some initial reading but not a lot. The spacers are certainly the easiest option.
The Origin live VTA, while grossly overpriced at around 50 bucks (USA), is the easiest and least expensive option for adjustability. Adds about 1.7mm minimum but fits in the stock rega arm hole. Not fancy, no VTA on the fly but atleast it gives you adjustability. Ive seen them on ebay for under $40 shipped from the UK. You're down $30 buying a 2mm and 4mm Rega shim/spacer. May as well get the adjustability for an extra few bucks.
Just a quick question, any reason to buy that one over the Michell VTA product or does it matter?
The Michell requires a larger hole, 1 1/8", which means the stock arm hole needs to be enlarged, atleast part way through. The stock rega hole is only 24mm I believe. The Origin live fits inside it without enlarging.

Sounds reasonable to me. I will check it out further. That is one I was thinking of. Thanks!
