....a night at the record-cleaning machine?
A mixed lot of early pressings and a few items of listening interest. I was really surprised to find the Romanian Electrecord - at first, I was hoping Enescu himself might be playing on it.
My total bill at two thrift stores was a bit under $6. I was so pleased, I went and splurged at the regular record store and spent another $3.50:
Follow Ups:
I'll have to think about how I feel about Chung's interpretations of Sibelius and Tchaikovsky, but as recordings--in which the violinist is set in front of a wonderfully warm orchestra *without* undue spotlighting--I can only feel gratitude. As for the Suor, this will be my first Tebaldi....
They brought a box of new stuff up as I was leaving, including two pristine London LL's pictured. I look foward to them.
I hope you enjoy the Flagstad.
Nice haul. After seeing the info on the Heifetz / Korngold RCA I had to check and see if I had that one in my collection. To my delight I have it and it is still sealed in shrink wrap. I have no idea when they started shrink wrap, but I would imagine this is a very late pressing. Tempted to crack her open.

...it is a Gold Seal reissue, and a complete waste of time. Same cover, but hardly the same thing.
Drats! I opened it up and found the RCA Red Seal LM (E2RP-4388). Now that it is open I am spinning it now, and side 1 sounds good to me.

Looks like this is one of the very last MONO pressings made, according to Penndorf's labelography.

Lucky Dog...noooo it's a Shady Dog!
I hope it cleans up well!

It's the MUSIC Dummy!
....that Shaded Dog mono (no stereo of this title) is the Korngold Violin Concerto and the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole.
The playing on the Korngold is fantastic, as is the sound. The condition is not as good as hoped, maybe VG++. Although the LP came out in the early 50s, the large typeface of the '1' in Side 1 points to 1963-64 for this pressing. The original would have been a maroon & silver outline dog, label 1b in Penndorf's labelography.
very excellent selections
Wow, you even got a free strobe disk (the Epic) :-)
