still in heavy rotation. Both are examples of some great new music. From the audiophile angle, in addition to the JJ being a great bunch of infectious tunes, it's also wonderfully recorded and mastered on 180g vinyl.

Just grabbed this today. Had a mid-80s Edsel comp w/ this and Coppperfields in the collection prior, so I knew the music. But holy smokes, does this LP sound great. The acoustic instruments and the vocals/harmonies were just custom-built for my DQ10s. This of course is all secondary to what is one of the keystone works of what would soon be known as country rock. Wheatstraw never got the attention it deserved at the time (I didn't know it until the Edsel package.) but it remains as compelling a listen now as it must have upon release.

but this is the only copy (CD or vinyl) I have ever heard. Wish you or someone else would chime in about its relative merits against original 2-eyes or some better reissues.
The incredible drums get my full attention all the time... The string bass, without being bloated, hits you in the stomach... The trumpet sometimes has distorsion, but I imagine it's in the recording...
No the vinyl is not perfect, but "rather close"... Paid 12$ for it, SS.

I am killing time waiting for a train home and had a jones for the new RadioHead album, "In Rainbows" but have discovered I left my gizmo at home...
Maybe I am gonna have to find a good streaming station that will work on my antique Toshiba notebook that I use on the road (won't cry if it falls off the side of the engine when I am loading and unloading my crap off the locomotive).
Or sleep, that would probably be the smart thing...

May be my VERY FAVORITE LP. This is an instance (one of the few) where I can heartily recommend the Classic Records reissue. I searched years for a good & reasonably priced original. I am quite happy with the Classic version. One Helluva Record!!!(yeah I know the pic is not the LP cover,,, couldn't find one in a hurry)
Oops! Just did a search and seems the Classic Records reissue is out of print. Nope mine is NOT for sale. ;-}

...They don't sound like the original but they sound better than the horrible mid '80s transfers that the seedees come from! In fact, I'll take a dreaded scorpio over a groove damaged HF burned orgiginal just because that is such a damn good record!

I was just doing the same thing in the "other" format since I don't have the LP. Weather Report - Heavy Weather is next up with the Senns since the wife will be calling it quits for the night.

Prolly 95% of my listening is on headphones. Habit from the old apartment days.

Mee too
I tend to listen when the rest of the house is turning in for the night.
It is a good thing I find that my Senn HD-580s to be totally satisfying!

the only time I could listen was after everyone had gone to bed. This is weird, something left over from the old stoner days, but it was always fun to turn the sound down on the TV and put music on the headphones. The juxtapositions of the music and images was so surreal...
Then, the horrible ex-GF who HATED anything I liked.
Anyway, I've been using Sennheisers for the last 28 years--a set of HD 410s that I still use at work and the HD-600s for home.
The 600s are messed up; the right element needs replaced. Everyonce in a while, a deep bass note will make it rattle. One or two taps fixes it, but I need to order a new element from Sennheiser ($55).

A response to my "crying the blues" post i made here when I had my "accident" led me to investigate replacing the blown left element myself.
It is a five minute job to replace the driver and Sennheiser had the replacement parts to my door in three working days.
OCD was kicking in so I put two new elements in and kept the one unblown original as a spare. The HD-580 and the HD-600 use the same driver.

Makes you wonder about the difference in price.
I got my 600s from Audio Advisor when the 650 was introduced. Sennheiser was supposed to discontinue the 600, so AA offered them at close out for $250.
Sennheiser still makes them, so they're more than that now.
Besides the great sound quality, they're easy to service.
BTW, I got my daughter and son-in-law a set of Grado SR-60's for xmas and they're also really good headphones.
