Looking for something cheap without too much suction. Small size would be a bonus.
Thanks.

1hp shop vac. wet or dry for the 25-30 buck range. Bought one year or two ago and it's a great way to get started.Works fine but won't overpower things.
If you're handy with design & fabrication, the best approach IMO is cannibilizing a thrift shop vacuum cleaner and mounting the motor/fan assembly inside a cabinet. The vacuum tube assembly on the side of my RCM is made from common PVC plumbing parts.
This is what I use. Small size, cheap, and really good suction.
Hi.
I worry the suction head, being hard plastic, can scratch the LP surface.

sorry
Use a crevice tool modified with front cut square and plugged up. The tool should, have a 1/8th or so inch slot carved down its length about 3.5 to 3.75 inches long. You then take felt material that you can buy at dollar stores, cut into two strips, put contact cement on the tool and then on the back side of the strip of felt. Once ready press the two felt strips on the contact cement, either side of the slot you cut into the crevice tool. You now have a safe and effective way to vacuum records... OBTW it is wise to drill a small hole say about 1/8th inch. dia. as an air bleeder so the vacuum has a suction break when you vacuum the records.
I cut some 1/8 in. x 1 in. slit in an approx. 4 in. x 4 in. piece of microfiber cloth, that I simply mount and center on the crevice tool and attach tightly with a rubber band. That way I can take off and clean the cloth easily. One cloth for cleaning, another one (mounted on a separate crevice tool) for rinsing. What think? Suction always keeps any cloth flaps inside anyway. Too risky?
And what is a vaccum break, what function does this serve?
Thanks in advance for any input
Are you using any homemade solutions?
thanks
