This morning I bought an Earl King comp lp. Vinyl was gorgeous, the label was EMI America, which was also the parent company listed on the jacket, so I didn't actually read the label. This evening I was going to clean the record when I noticed the vinyl wasn't Earl King, it was F'ing Kate Bush! Of course I had already removed the price sticker from the jacket.I brought the record back with receipt this evening, and got a hassle free refund. I had purchased a couple of records this morning, at 2 different prices, but no hassle getting my money back. Just thought I'd give a well deserved kudos where it was due.
Follow Ups:
I buy a lot of LP's from them, and if it looks interesting the kid will save it back for me to look at next time I'm in there (usually twice aweek. I've taken back three or four over the last five or six years that looked good but were messed up in one way or another. The last one had damage from the plastic sleeve, and of course the exchanged it with another identical one without a question. I did take a few minutes to show them what to look for when a sleeve damages the surface of the record. But not all Half Priced book stores are like that. There's one in the Plano Texas area that carrys nothing but junk, and the manager couldn't care less. Told me that nobody ever listens to records anymore, and I just laughed at him!

One of the stores here carries nothing but crap as well, but the one closest to me gets a great deal of decent stuff. I also like their ignorance of records; some of the usual suspects (Dylan, Beatles) get overpriced but I've found some gems priced much lower than they would have been at a normal record store.
I've never returned anything there, but I've been in the store when other people have. Strictly no hassle, the staff is pleasant, courteous, and fast.

not a generic term.

although i have lived in several places where there was a 'half price books' store -- though not a chain.
