Well I started out with an Ortofon X5MC on a Microseiki DX1000 turntable last week. But I couldnt take the harsh sound of the cartridge for another day, so I sent it back to the Needle Doctor. I arranged for them to send out a Goldring 1042. The information I have read makes this cartridge appear to be a fine choice. Anyone had any experiences with it? I currently have a Microseiki Ma 707 tone arm on the table, but can lay my hands on a Mission 774 if I have to. Anyways hopefully this will be the end of me cartridge shopping for awhile. I just want to listen to music for a bit!
The 1042 has always been recommended by British Audio mags. Make sure you have the VTA set right with whatever cartridge you use.
