Are there any VPI TNT experts who can tell me the difference between a MKI and a MkII?Thanks in advance,
blakey
Follow Ups:
the easiest way is the pulley assembly. The mk1 is a T formation with the motor at one end (square motor housing). the mk2 is the separate triangle with a stand alone motor (round motor).
look at Paul Tobin's site he had a mk1
Thanks for your info...but isn't that a MKIII?"the mk2 is the separate triangle with a stand alone motor (round motor)"
The Mk3 had the separate triangular slave pulley assembly.
The Mk2 motor/pulley base was made (I think) entirely from steel rather than having the acrylic platform for the slave pulleys
From the TAS review in issue 75/76:
"...acrylic pulley base has been replaced with a welded steel base and laminated steel inserts."The platter on the Mk2 was 1/2" acrylic bonded to 1/2" aluminium, rather than the original acrylic/lead platter.
The Mk2 also got the updated PLC with the rotary dials, rather than the original models (annoying) thumbwheels. This newer PLC dropped the voltage to the motor after startup (adjustable by a screw on the rear).
Some minor belt and pulley changes were made also but these might be hard to notice (physically).
