We saw the Gypsy Kings live in Europe and then again in the U.S. The album Allegria is fantastic and I really like their talking between tracks, as if it is a direct to disc cut live in an open venue. I just love this type of guitar music. On the other end of the spectrum is Pink Floyd's Live at Knebworth, half speed mastered 45 rpm. I think this is a very good live recording. Never heard of this particular recording. But good jam session. I listened to Government Mules version of Shine on Crazy Diamond and while the live audience on Government Mules version seemed more alive and "there", the dynamics overall sound was better on the Pink Floyd live album for the same song.
Follow Ups:
Just saw a fascinating doc on TV about the Spanish gypsies who moved to southern France. From the same two families came Manitas da Plata, a world famous flamenco guitarist in the 1960s/70s. The music is being passed on from generation to generation.
"The torture never stops"Greetings Freek.
Is the doc on cable TV in the U.S.? What's the name of the documentary? Would be interesting to watch.
I don't know, i'm in the Netherlands, saw it on a public Dutch TV channel.

that's what a bass player I used to play with called some of the 80's hair bands. He was right. Some may laugh but I like the Bruce Fairbairn production of Black & Blue.
But my next up is a true fav, Queensryche Rage for Order. I'm happy to be spinning again.
Queensryche is in my last list for today. Always great to listem to them. We played them going through the breach during the first Gulf War. Ahh, memories.
