Back in the late 70's while attending college I remember going to a local bar with my girlfriend and listening to this great band playing music I'd only heard occasionally on the radio. They played a few times at this one place and we made sure to show up when they were in town. Turns out it was The Cars before they'd even released an album. Fun to dance to so my girlfriend liked them and they always put on a good show. Not sure who it was at the time but one of the lead singers (Ric or Ben) came and sat at our table while they were taking a break. Fun times. Here's what I'm listening to so far. Good music, eye catching cover art. Though some of it is rather suggestive...

Hi, The cars before they became famous worked at WEA in of the warehouses until someone noticed them! History starts in the weirdest places!!!
I do not see where/how the the cover is sexist?!

Thanks for the background information. We didn't know anything about them at the time, only that they were from Boston. They definitely sounded different than the other bands we were hearing at the time.
I'll change my post regarding sexism because you're right, it isn't necessarily sexist. But sex sells and their cover art IS very suggestive. I'm just trying to be more considerate of a women's point of view. My wife appreciates it. :-)

24F here this morning.
Fun band! Luminator turned me onto this video over on Rocky Road - apparently the song never made it onto an LP so they released it on their Greatest Hits record.

That's funny. My sister gave me all her CDs and one of them was "The Cars Greatest Hits" but I never bothered to play it since I already have all The Cars LPs. In fact, I had to check because I'd forgotten that I even had their Greatest Hits album.Maybe I'll add "Tonight She Comes" to one of their other albums. :-)

Burlington, VT. Winter/spring of 1978. They must have been doing a bit of pre-touring before their debut album came out that summer. Funny thing is, none of us really knew who these guys were. We knew they were from Boston but had no idea of how big they'd become.
