I have a Luxman PD-272 with a VM540ML cartridge. It sounds excellent. Far superior to my Sony PX-X70 TT. You know anything about this TT?
Follow Ups:
I've had a few of them, back when they could be found for reasonable money.
I put a jack plate on the last one I had so I could use better cables.

The Luxman PD-272 used to be about $400 refurbished a few years ago. Now about $800 refurbished. Parts only PD-272 are listed for about $400 on ebay- no guarantee of working. Nice deal about the PD-272 is the electronics board is all discrete and can be rebuilt due to no 'unobtainable' ICs.
What is the PD-272 equal to in performance?
...and your ears.
In its day it was, in my opinion, a strong competitor in its price range.
Its strength is it tonearm. I once salvaged the arm (Micro Seiki TA-1) off a PD-272 and mounted it on a JVC QL-50, which I thought perhaps sounded a bit better.
Its weakness is its plinth, which is just a light, empty box. But, at its original price point compromises were the norm.
I thought about making a superior plinth for one, but never got around to it.

......I used to sell those when new. A blast from the past. The arm is made by Micro Seiki. Not positive but the motor may be a JVC part. The base was kind of drummy but solid sound. It was waaayyyy to expensive for a hifi sellin' kid back then. I would love to have one now, congrats!
Thanks. I like the TT a lot.
I think I had one years ago, might have been a different model, but it had the M.S. tonearm and a most peculiar speed strobe oxide reference on the inside outer edge of the platter. I remember something about being careful not to muck it up. Nice table.
My TT has standard strobe window.
you would have to take the platter off the table to see but maybe you shouldn't.
