I picked this up a few years back, when on my quest to get all the LP's with Byard Lancaster. It is a bit "out", but I enjoy it. Great cover art too.

Cool LP. I like the music too. Bayard used to be somewhat of a fixture in downtown Phila. playing his sax on the corner for all to hear.
Thanks for the post!
Still spinnin'...

was walking downtown once and heard this beguiling sound and followed it for almost a whole
block, round a corner to Simmons blowing on Market street. The wind and buildings had created
this strange path that had amplified his sound and made it VERY woodwindish, almost viola like.I sat and listened to him for about 20 minutes. put a few bucks in his container and moved on.
Word was he did this a lot but that you didn't really want to "engage" with him due to... irrationality issues.
Beyond a Thank you and God Bless of course. His sound was a siren, beautiful and bewitching. bedeviling.
Within a couple years of that he was "re-discovered" and his career kicked back into gear
and he was in clubs again and recording. This reminds me I met Prince Lasha once too at a record store I was managing.
He said he had some records to sell, I was very encouraging, but he never did come
back with any to sell. Too bad. These two WERE the Firebirds at one time.
