My wife's friend died recently and in cleaning out her apartment she found about 50 LPs. Not a lot, and not too much I wanted. But there were of course a few worth taking. First off was Janis Joplin's Pearl, something I have on CD. That was #1 on both our lists as we used to listen to this in the car. 2nd was a batch of Joni Mitchell, Clouds, For the Roses, Court and Spark, and a few more later ones. I have most of them anyway, but I didn't have Clouds. A few Art Garfunkel, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, a lot of Barbara Streisand, Rubber Soul, yet another copy of Tapestry (there is one in every collection it seems), nothing that is really rock, nor jazz, nor classical. It was all college girl stuff from the early-mid 70s. Oh, Born in the USA (again). A few others that I can't remember.
So my keepers grow slowly but the reject and duplicate piles are getting bigger. I'm at the point where I don't want any more filler as they take up space. I want to find a collection of great 50s/60s jazz, the classic rock favorites, some audiophile pressings. Don't we all...
