I'll never forget seeing them opening for the Stones on the "Tattoo You" tour at Candlestick Park in the 80's!
See ya. Dave
I had the pleasure of seeing them in western Massachusetts a couple times when I was a young feller. I felt they held their own against The Allman Brothers Band pretty well. (ABB came on around 10:00 and played 'til 3:00 which was pretty cool- man they could jam!) I admit I joined the crowd booing the opener (NRBQ) off the stage at an outdoor Geils show a few years later- NRBQ wouldn't stop playing (that, plus they sucked).
I thought we would get a reprieve after the horrible 2016 we suffered and reminisced through as too many of the greats passed.
What fond memories looking back to the memories J. Geils brought.
My favorite
Really liked the early J. Geils Band albums ... Blues Rock. The band was best known for their latter pop rock hits period ... but to me ... the early albums were there best work. Absolutely superb sounding Vinyl that I scored during the dollar bin days.
Power is always dangerous. It attracts the worst and corrupts the best ... Ragnar Lothbrok
It took me years to find one of those at a reasonable price.
HI, Ed,
I bought mine when they were first released. In a bittersweet way, it's become even more treasured.
J.Geils Band albums were a staple at parties and our favorite bars. Fun music indeed.
Another blues band that I was fortunate enough to see on numerous occassions Many people missed it and thought that it was Peter Wolf who was J. Geils, but no and it was not the harp blowin Magic Dick but the guitarist what a show those guys put on when they first hit the road. R.I.P. is all I can say you brought a lot of people to there feet.
