Would be fun to try. Give the carving chisels and mallet a workout.

Would add to the cost of the turntable. When Matt designed the Prime they had a price point in mind. To bring a walnut option to the market would have added hundreds of dollars to the bottom line.
Maybe it could be a option but somehow I think VPI has enough options already.

It's a shame they decided to increase the original price of $3500. It's a very nice looking turntable but it's not expensive to manufacture. After all, it doesn't even have electrically switchable speed or electrically adjustable speed. Technics makes a turntable with quartz locked direct-drive and electrically switchable speeds of 78-rpm, 45-rpm and 33-rpm complete with tonearm for $4000 or even less. At least one inmate who owns both likes his Technics SL-1200G better.
Go figure!
