I have an Elac 50H turntable that was restored by a person I hired to do the work. I will be asking him about this issue as well, but I wanted to post here to see if there are any answers. Toward the very end of the record, the tonearm skips with great frequency. It doesn't happen every time, but often, it does. It gets stuck and skips over and over again. Sometimes it will dislodge itself and advance. All other functions of the arm appear to be working flawlessly aside from the fact that sometimes when pressing the 12" button, nothing happens or there is a delay before it starts. Not sure if that's a clue or not. I'm guessing the skipping is due to something that is not adjusted properly? I've tried the same record and different records. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it does not. It's not the record. Any ideas? For these tests, I've turned anti-skate to zero to eliminate variables.

I had this issue on an Elac 10H. I've annotated the photo attached to this post to illustrate how I solved the issue. It was a simple fix -- sliding the noted cable to prevent it from clawing back the tonearm.
Most automatic turntables have a "trip pawl" that the arm pushes on at the end of a record to engage the autoreturn. Sounds like yours needs a lube and is pushing back on the arm as it tries to engage it.
Hello again! This kind of significant and repeatable skipping is nearly always caused by the arm lifting device not being properly disengaged from the arm for the entire radius of the disc. The part of the lifting device which contacts the arm in "lift" position may not be truly parallel to the arm tube so the point where it fouls the arm can be at any position across the disc depending upon its variance from correct alignment.
I don't know any details of the Elac 'table but that is what needs looking at.
