I just talked to the distributor and he said it is a 6 to 12 month wait for a cartridge. Who would ever think that you would have to wait for a cartridge.
Follow Ups:
How long is the wait for a new buggy whip?
Funny guy!
Pretty obviously a troll when the Bored gets in on the commentary!!!
Freedom is the right to discipline yourself.
What about these:

and it was even longer... 18 to 24 months. Whose you're guy? maybe he can get me a crtridge quicker.
The Benz distributor for North America Is Musical Surroundings. They are the one's that told me the wait Is 6 to 12 months.

...more than one company makes cartridges. I bet someone has one for you.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
I was talking to a major cartridge manufacturer's CEO the other day, and he said that cartridges were on the way out. Is he to be believed?
Who would that be?
The same "misty man" (people ?) you like to refer too, eh.
If you don't believe me call them yourself!

This is not a new thing with Benz. Three years ago when I purchased my VPI Classic I had to wait two months for a Benz Glider from Galen Carol. It's been a while, but I believe that Galen said something about limited production runs and demand.

We thought you were getting out of vinyl and tubes because the maintenance costs were too high? Or was your post on General just another troll?
Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera...
Memo bis punitor delicatum! It's all there, black and white,
clear as crystal! Blah, blah, and so on and so forth ...
Plenty of cartridges going cheap
I was thinking about it because I really can't afford it. Now that I can't get a cartridge for 6 to 12 months I'm just going to wait and see what happens.
One can only hope.

well put!
the original post is lacking in information. how about you post one where people dont have to guess what you are talking about. and post your system online in inmate systems.

The first time I tried it was a few years ago and I went 'UGH'. Besides, my system is always changing anyway...

If demand is too low and set-up costs are high it might be long periods between production runs.
Obviously demand is high. When I bought the cartridge 4 years ago I got it in 2 days. Now there telling me 6 to 12 months.
If it's so obvious why are you telling us? Why are you stating the obvious?
Chad
"Obviously demand is high."
It seems you have some grand notion of how demand affects availability.
"When I bought the cartridge 4 years ago I got it in 2 days. Now there telling me 6 to 12 months."
That's not empirical evidence. My guess is, if a seller exists, you were not concerned with demand or you would have asked.
which cartridge??
I believe there is some issue at Benz Micro Switzerland. I ordered a new Glider SL in April and they still don't have a firm date on when new ones will ship -- at least another 6-12 months.
Folks in other forums report the same thing.
I love the Benz sound and hope the company can start making cartridges at full production again soon.
If I wanted a different cartridge (a Dynavector ie), there would be no such unreasonable delay. A week or two.
I wanted to order a Gullwing SLR a couple months ago and was told there were none on dealers shelves and it was unknown when or if there would be a production run initiated.
Waited a few weeks and decided to order the Lyra Kleos and have been extremely impressed with it and this coming from a long time Benz owner!

from a fellow Benz fan
and that you are very happy with the Lyra cartridge. Of course this is a different price point than the $1200 glider.
all my best, Stephanie
Benz wood body.
That many European manufacturers have their employees go on leave in August, often for three weeks. Benz is no exception: even ten years back, I was advised to place my order well in advance of the end of summer vacation time for both new cartridges and for retips.
Benz is definitely not made in America, with their production values. Plus the factory is not very large to begin with.

Also stock may be out there, but spread about to tiny little shops.
Nice part is you can get deals if a cartridge is seeing use in a shop. I can get a Benz Ref 3 (had one!) for $850 cash and carry (full warranty).
Short’s the best position they is. Bullet in the Brain
Tell me what tiny shop has the cartridge I need?
Sudz....try Audio Connection in Verona, NJ Ask to speak to John..Tell him Stan Green sent you.. He got my Benz in about a week.
I have talked to John from Audio Connection in the past. He is a very nice man.
I wouldn't tell you if I knewBut one of those 50's braun portables ought to suit you I should think
LOL

Yah Mon, That's some good stuff!
Another sweetheart on AA.
.
Obviously they are way backed up. I don't think they have ever had a wait of 6 to 12 months.
