the original limited edition has been out of print for awhile but analogue productions repressed it and it's now available for those who didn't get it the first time....one of my favorite all analog albums
Follow Ups:
"Between The Lines" (Columbia, 1975) Janis Ian's "signature album" (my opinion) is absolutely a CLASSIC in every sense of the definition. That album never ceases to amaze me, an album one must listen to at above average volume, and not be disturbed. Genius recording from Ms. Ian.
I will give this new release from Acoustic Sounds a listen, and thank you for reminding me. On occasion, I'll spin a solid afternoon of every Janis Ian album I own, including her early release on the Verve label ("Society's Child).

and push pencils in my ears if I ever hear this album again.

I too have never warmed to this album - recording asides, I've found the material too self-indulgent. But, it's been a few years since I've listened to it. I'll give it another try.
I've always tagged it as "Breaking Wind", rather than "Breaking Silence".
LMAO! ;> ) You are a nut!

It's a great recording and great music.Did you just listen to it to many times and burn out on it?
Or did you not like it to start with?
What about Between The Lines?
I just found a mint white label promo to go with my other 5 copies. Great album.

you seem to like between the lines :) do you have the boxstar (cisco) release...if so how does it compare?
a smaller pressing of billie bones was done by grooveland. 2 lps with one cut at 45. it's my second favorite ian on vinyl...... i think it's oop but if you like the album it's worth looking for.
Too many times. Yes great recording and production.
I do not care for the music - dark and dramatic!
I saw her at a small club in town. I think that was the turning point for me. Kind of snobby and unhappy. Maybe it was just a bad night in a small town for her.

Anyone report on a head to head? I have the numbered original APO which was much better than a subsequent unnumbered pressing. I'd be interested to know how this one compares
i'm satisfied with the first release and even have a sealed one as a backup. the pressing quality on this new one might make for a little blacker background on some systems so a comparison would be good to see...my rti copy is very well pressed though.
with not that many of them having been pressed it's good to see it available again for those who may want it. i think this new pressing is only 1500.
and a later un-numbered one. The latter sounds just as good and is quieter. Hmmmm

they were both from the same doug sax mastering/cutting and the same galvanics so i can't see why there would be much of a difference....i think the only difference with the new one is it's being pressed at qrp on 200 gram.
I can only imagine what a really good pressing sounds like... She is a very talented lady. Great album.
Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

I have the Gold CD and it's very good.
standard CD release. Among the best I've ever owned. Still-the LP blows it away

with both audiophile sound quality and excellent songs. If you like folksy singer/songwriters you'll enjoy this album.
