My Pioneer PA1000 arm wants to play the record to the right of the record. Since there's nothing there but air, it's a problem.
Too much anti-skate and one can't get the styluws to set down onto the record...or is that too little? I'm so confused.
Anyway, the teensy weight at the side, even when set on it's lowest setting, allows the arm to set down too far to the right.
It just occurred to me I could try completely removing the weight and see if the arm/cart will start at the outside edge. The idea never occurred to me, I'm a gonna try it right now!
Sheesh, why didn't I ever think of that before? It works like a charm.
Now to put that tiny weight where I'll know where it is if ever needed again! Ya learn sompin' every day!
I must be as dumb as the guy around these parts who just got arrested for stealing 500 lbs. of tomatoes. Life is stranger than fiction.

Follow Ups:
I had that issue once on one of my tables with the Shure VxMr. The brush would cause the arm to skate off the album on set down. Running brush up made the issue go away.
When I meet up with a fly-tyer it may go back on, but....
I CAN'T HEAR A DAMN BIT OF DIFFERENCE!!!
wings. Haven't had them in years. Good eatin'!
Congrats on getting the anti-skate thing together. I don't miss messing with that.

Simply delicious
This is usually a problem with the lift mechanism. It should provide some lateral friction while the arm is being lowered, but as the parts age (especially rubber) they kinda lose their grip.
Some small amount of anti-skate (even if its not enough to be ideal) will make your stylus last longer.
Get either some 90% alcohol or better yet, rubber cleaner/rejuvenator & a Q-tip, and scrub off the rubber pad to restore the grip.
I always use anti-skate. Better for your records & your styli.
Cheers,
Bobbo :-)
I used any anti-skate
