I know 1965 to 1970 audio equipment had so-so quality small signal audio transistors and some become noisy. What year did these issues pass? Around 1975?

I would put it at about 1975.
The real thing is that they learned to use them with the varying parameters. To this day if a transistor says 100 gain I treat it like it could be a bit less, or alot more.
Back then a transistor was more expensive than a transformer. Remember the SESAPP circuits, even DC coupled that were driven by a transformer ? Even not, they made some of them sound good.
One thing I find interesting sometimes is my old old spec book. Transistors. The thing starts at like 2N1. I mean we are talking a gain of 5 max. A whopping 15 volts and able to do 200mA. Wow ~ huh...
Wasn't it when Germanium was phased out and Silicon came in?
I was running a an audio service company back then. The noisy transistor issue declined to a very small percentage of problems by the late '80s. Based on that, I would say the processes had improved sometime in the late '70s or early '80s.
This reminds me of the little round epoxy uA703 that was used so prolifically as an IF amp in the early '70s. I must have replaced thousands of them. The later metal-can versions didn't provide the same opportunities for profit. :)

First silicon transistors were not great and some become noisy even from 1970 as documented on the internet. The Pioneer SX-1000TW was noted for noisy transistors after guessing 5000 hours use. I am sure late 1970s solved this issue with better transistors, may be around 1974 though.
