When I try to play or rewind a cassette in my CT-F6262, it only moves for about 5 seconds and then stops. It is not the belts. What could be the reason for this?

None of these suggestions have been a solution to the problem. Also, the Rewind wheel is broken off. I believe it may be a sensor problem. Could you tell me more about the sensor?
If all wheels and pinch roller are moving freely, you have a dirty or defective sensor that drives the tape counter..See if the tape counter moves for that few seconds it works. If it doesn't,there is your problem.

I agree with Michael that the tape counter is causing your problem. It is probably as simple as replacing a belt. I've never worked on a 6262, but on the 9191 the tape counter is driven by a belt, and if the belt breaks or slips, the tape counter doesn't turn, which causes auto-stop to kick in after a few seconds.
Are RW and FF still working well on your 6262? On every Pioner cassette deck I've worked on of that vintage, FF and RW are slow at best. The friction clutches have a plastic ring that indirectly applies pressure to the friction surfaces. The rings crack from age, reducing the friction. As far as I know, there is no source for replacement parts. Because of this problem, I will never again buy a vintage Pioneer cassette deck. I really like my CT-F700, but it's just a matter of time before FF and RW quit working.

I wasn't sure if that one used the belt or was electronic being I never saw one of them. The CTf900 I believe used the sensor but its been so long I can't remember.
