Or what is the thing you are keeping that you will probably never use...but just in case...I have 6 boxes of TV knobs. The radio and Hi-Fi knobs are seperate from these.
My collection only has 5 old TVs. But these knobs could be missorted and be for Hi-Fi of I could get a TV that needs them. Or I could find the Philco Predicta that I want with no knobs. I would need them the day after I got rid of them! Or........
Here is the start of some new years resolutions
Happy New Year
Follow Ups:
My Heathkit 8-track player. I even restored it last year with new belts. It just sits on the shelf. I built it in the 70s before the cassette craze. I still have the original assembly manual. I just can't get rid of it.I played Smoke on the Water for the boys one night :-)
I could Really use some Sherwood Knobs.
i don't have anything useless - just a huge collection of stereo equipment that i don't use.
It is interesting what I cleaned out in 2005 as related to everyone's postings.3 4 chan decoders
3 pairs of speakers
a few hundred tubes
Loads of 914 Porsche parts
2 phono cartridges
Many extra large spools of wire
Several casette recorders
2 shelves of VCRs and repair parts stock
2 CD players
Overhead projector
2 low end turntables
Some large receivers
250 8 tracks (kept about 300)But the other side of the coin is somehow I still have no room left.
I brought in 4 boxes of audio magazines from the 2000's.
Acquired 2 more turntables, a few hunderd more tubes, more anps, more tuners, more speakers, etc.OK I have to focus on what to move out
1 or 2 turntables Linn or Dennon
Parts Zero 100
4 channel receivers
Some R to R tapes
More non Hi-Fi tubes
Parts Kenwood KA 5002 amp
Astd. EV Aries drivers
Heath VTVM's
Have to do an LP and 45 record sort and thin out
Utah 12" coaxes
Microfilm and microfiche readersThis list is going to take a year to complete. Sould my new years resolution be to make the list or clean out the stuff and make room for items of more interest to me?

Don't have the heart to get rid of them
and also working 8-track decks.
I have quite a few quad, and an Akai quad rec/play deck. Maybe I'll part with them this year....
they sell pretty well on ebay - I think people with classic laate 60's cars buy 'em for cruisin' around town
If you ever want to get rid of them, let me know. I am in suburban Atlanta.
Just one of those things I can't part with yet, had most of them since the late 70's early 80's. I had 3 cars with 8-track decks, and bought a lot. A lot of them are still sealed that I bought out of the bargain bins when they were going out of style.
A Zenith Reciver from about 1975! I just can't seem to throw it out
because I like the Diga-lite display for AM and FM! It needs all the switches cleaned and sounds like a final is going out,but it was the first reciver I ever owned!Brian
A receiver that works but was damaged cosmetically in shipping. A few turntables I'm not using. Extra ceedee players and cassette decks.
Most were in use before I moved, but now I *only* have five stereos set up for use.
Rollie projector with slides
picked up from all the various turntables I've scrounged.
And those oddball vacuum tubes that seem to predominate every box lot that has one or two "nice" tubes
And all those old Memorex, Sony, etc cassettes from back in the 70s that lost most of their top end in the 80s. TDKs and Maxells still sond fine though
Neither works.
Don't know how many there are in basement nooks and crannies. Worse, they probably all still work!
About half the stuff in the basement is useless but the pile keeps growing faster than geting it cleaned out. On the audiofront, I disposed of an old SS amp with about an inch of tar, cut cord and broken balance control; never even hooked it up it is so bad and a HP LaserJet III in the morning and picked up a receiver in the afternoon so am up 1 piece in the disposal side for the 30th.
Bad enough stuffed with high-priced gear, but with such an attitude as well! Man, I miss 'Listener' magazine!
I think those are actually worth some money. I can't remmber right now, but I am sure I saw some trade hands for a decent price. I have the first 111 copies.
I would be happy for someone to get some use out of them....
sounds so good without it and I am too lazy to use it.
at least one is a MKII. :-)

"Kico"
It fills up a banana box and is dense. Its got lots of wall warts, some nice teflon wire, coax, etc., etc.
As much as its an eyesore, if I ever need some wire, I always find something I can use.
...Keep telling myself to see if Mr. VDH can retip it but never get around to it.
can this be fixed? I also own one of these...
and for some reason I can't let go of them :-)
A Sony SQ 2020 that sort of works :) I use it just to check both channels for matched (or close) output on receivers that don't have output meters. I just can't bring myself to get rid of it.
Unfortunately, one lonely Dynaco A25. I've hoped to find a partner for some time but my hope is waning.
I'll take it if you don't want it. I could use it as my center in my all Dynaco a25 surround system. :)
We could probably arrange that in the not so distant future. I'm using it for a center channel currently. I've been working a deal for quite some time to obtain 4 Altec 604's to use as centers and surrounds to my A7's. When I get that deal done I'll see if can find this thread and give you a ping. I'm hopeful that this happens at/by spring.
100 tube type organs. I only need one.
in my basement.Or maybe my gallstones....
Its so hard to decide! ;-D
You can dump an engine in these easily. New engines are only about $800 and installation is so easy. I just found on eBay a '75 Subaru that is the same baody as my dearly departed '72 and I was thinking of going for it but from the correspondence it has bad heads and after searching and discussing with a Subaru group, no new ones available, no NOS and no good used ones (a weak point on the engine). The car is like new with almost no mileage but I'm going to pass.
Hi BrianWith these you don't dump in an engine. You put the motor on the floor and dump on a body.
Happy new year
This morning....
Wife
Slow leak flat tire that "looked low for a while"
No air in space saver spare
Bent her tire iron
Bent my spinner
Got to drive to 20 miles
Got to drive from 20 miles
Got to change the tire twice
Spent quality time with my wifeThe tire irons still work well enough to club the guy that put the lug nuts on.
Happy darned new year
I have one unused can of Arco Graphite Motor Oil.
tubes for tv`s mostly. but its nice to open them up and get a big wiff of vintage nostagia.
I hope these qualify, their from the 80's. Yamaha DSP-1 and DSR-100 Dolby surround units. Also a Yamaha 4ch. amp 20x4 or 40x2 just throw a switch. I'm sure I can always find a spot for the little amp.
right now a bunch of old speaker parts and a Cletron speaker.I also have my father in laws old Heathkit oscilloscope. Really its worth nothing but I like to keep it on my bench for memories.
My wife?Oh, hi hun.
....so much for a wild New Years evening.....not
Actually, she's a gem, and a cute one at that. Allows me to let all sorts of stereo stuff to follow me home.....and that's a big plus.
Anyway.....I've been hoarding Infinity, Boston Acoustics, EPI and Genesis speakers (to name jut a few) with rotted woofers. I don't know how to do surrounds, and have no plans in the near distant future to learn. I basically bought the EPI and Genesis to pull their tweeters....which I've yet to take the 4.37 minutes to do. Too many other projects that deserve my attention first.
Radio Shack SQ decoder and the $20 electronic reverb unit I bought from Lafayette Electronics in the late 70s.
