Got a new CD transport that I really like, but it has a bright display in blue that is quite annoying. There is no ability to dim or turn off the display. Any suggestions on an economical film or glare reducing material that can be placed over it that will stay in place by simple contact (no adhesive) and that is widely available?

I had that problem with an amp I had. The volume display was WAY too bight.
I found dim it on amazon. It's a cutable sheet that sticks my a static charge and blocks about 1/2 the light. Easily removable too.

Shouldn't be all that difficult to find the resistor on the board that controls the voltage, likely 10 or 15k. Try a 20 or 30k instead.

I'd rather have NO LED than a bright one. Here's before and after pictures of my DAC's status LEDs, stock, and then after covering them with one of the dots. They have no adhesive, but it adheres nicely to the plexiglass face of my Geshelli J2 DAC.
Thanks. Looks like just what I need. The size of the longest is maybe a tad short, but with the others included, I can make it work. I just ordered some.
The link I gave you was from my "recently purchased" on Amazon, but I wasn't actually paying much attention. What I actually bought, for about $7 were those various shaped dots and rectangles, but they also included a full sheet, maybe 3.5" x 5", which you could have cut to cover your display.
Hopefully one of the largest rectangles on the sheet you ordered will be enough.
I got the same thing years ago. I think they must be the seller.
Put a blue Post-it-note over it. I use a paper hole cutter and punched a small O out of a grey Post-it-note's sticky part to dim a bright LED on/off light on my cd player, works great. If you need more dimming, just double up the post its.
and color. Easy to apply, easy to move to let just enough light shine through.
Doesn't stain.
