I'm trying to convert a wire output from my vintage studio monitors to binding posts but the back of the speaker is thick, 1" and I can't find long enough binding posts. Any suggestions? They need to be 1-3/4" minimum.
Follow Ups:
Cut a 1" counter-bore with a Forstner bit with a drill press. Or, no drill press/cabinet won't fit under the quill, use a variable speed plunge router as slow as the trigger will allow. No router? A hammer you likely have and an inexpensive 3/4" chisel to cut a mortise.
There's no virtue in being old,
it just takes a long time
Used to be available in extra long length for thick walled cabinets. I don't know whether you can still find them.

Cardas has some nice long ones available in different platings. Alternatively Solen has long sets, as well as ones that are in preformed plastic inserts that are meant to lay flush with the back. You would have to make a bigger hole for the insert though. The insert attaches with wood screws.
