I read long ago 3x the PIV voltage is minimum for long term reliability. The 600 volt diodes are great in the 40 to 80 volt SS amp & receiver circuits.
Follow Ups:
I also read Cree Schottky do not like high temps. Hexfred is more tolerant. Anyways, I use 1/2 size TO-220 heat sinks on both in the main power supply. I guess high power 100 watt and higher amps with a single power supply for both channels should use full size TO-220 heatsinks if room exists. I know some high power amps use two transformers.
I also see current de-ratings for Schottky diodes at higher temperatures.
