I certainly wouldn't argue that faceplates on equipment could color the sound, one way or another, but faceplates on wall sockets? Especially if metal they should never even touch the actual socket. I know. I know.

What is it that you know you know Lew? Have you tried listening after a change in a wall faceplate. The excellent Brainerd 126453 recommended by duster seems not to be available but a very similar item, the Brainerd 64234 is available and cost $3.75. There is hardly an easier and less expensive tweak, maybe even easier and cheaper than a $6 audiophile UL rated fuse. You think Furutech and Oyaide are selling faceplates for over $100 with no sonic effect? I tell you what, by the Brainerd 64234, listen to it, and if you can't hear a difference I'll refund your purchase price. Or maybe better yet, buy the carbon fiber one recently recommended for $20 free shipping and if you can't here the difference I'll give you $20 bucks for it. Close to zero time and effort and close to zero financial risk. What more could you ask for doctor man?

What I know I know is that my post would get the response it got. I shouldn't knock it if I haven't tried it. Actually, I wasn't knocking it; I was expressing surprise and skepticism. For decorative reasons, we have brass faceplates on many of our electrical outlets already. Maybe I should go back and forth between brass and some other material and have a listen. Maybe in my next life. We use Baldwin, BTW.
Well Lew, I can't fathom why you wouldn't try such an easy and quick tweak with all you have invested. The difference between face plates and from what I personally hear the difference between brass and steel screws is not all that subtle. I'm not sure I get the point of your post.

but with practice, you'll always hear what you believe

Just thinking out loud, I guess. No offense intended.
Stop dropping my name when mentioning a low-cost device I suggested 10 years ago, which has been greatly superseded by modern technology for little cash outlay.
Excellent low-cost Brainerd Liberty 126453 AC wall plate.

Well duster, your glowing description of the Brainerd sure sounds like it is more than marginally better than a random plastic wall plate but I have no doubt there are better. The similar Brainerd 64234 now available is as low as $3.75 so it might be a good place to start for the skeptical who don't think such a change would do anything or don't want to spend $20 on a wall plate. I would also suggest that you refrain from your dictatorial, authoritarian imperatives. Just a suggestion, I'm sure it will be ignored.

Stop using my credibility to justify your often ill-informed positions. There is nothing dictatorial or authoritarian about the request.
Stand on your own two feet, and keep me out of your often abusive and confrontational attention seeking in the forum. That's all I ask.
Is the "Excellent" Brainerd 126453 only marginally better than a regular cheap plastic wall plate as you recently stated or is it significantly better? I myself thought it so much better that I gave one to an audiophile at work as a holiday gift. He was a bit skeptical but was impressed after trying it. A clearly better, more 3D soundstage. If I thought it only marginally better I wouldn't have given it as a gift or recommended it previously here. Maybe I'll get around to the new wall plate eventually. The Brainerd was and is an excellent or at least solid good tweak IMO. There's almost always better.
