Just a heads-up. I came across an AliExpress seller offering the same price of $14 per set of four 40mm X 10mm Carbon Fiber Discs with free shipping as the eBay seller requiring a purchase of eight for the same price break.

Dealing with aliexpress.com could be bad for your financial heath. After ordering from them and having them debit my credit card I waited for 17 days during which time all I could find out was that "The supplier is processing your order". No shipment, no tracking number. The only communication with them seems to be through emails that don't really offer answers or a "chat" system with the other side responding with riddles.
Have asked my credit card bank to initiate charge-back.
Before doing any business with them you might wish to see the Reseller Ratings site giving them a 1 out of 10, the lowest rating:

There are two ways to communicate with the sellers via the website, with a built-in translation capability. I have had no problems in any case. YMMV
Just for, and to complete, the record the goods came today. I guess these people work on a different schedule. It took 16 days from the order and charging my card for them to ship the (Chinese) goods. Once shipped it was a reasonably quick 9 days.Live and learn. The price was good. Score another one for Duster.

Thanks Duster. You've piqued my curiosity, so I just ordered a couple sets to experiment with. I have some Herbies 40mm Grungebusters already, and a bin full of BDR cones. Main difference is I'll be using a Neuance for the shelf/platform. I did a LOT of experimenting a number of years ago with different shelf/platform materials from solid woods to laminates to carbon fibers and even to different metals and metal constrained hardwoods, and while my experiments didn't cover even a fraction of the materials or combinations possible, the Neuance's simply killed anything I compared them to. Sad they are no longer available (which is why I normally don't go on and on about them here).
From your post below:
After many experiments, I find an acoustically dead platform to sound very dull and lifeless. It's total overkill and pointless, to my ear.
I couldn't agree more, so your suggestions on your tuning methods have me quite interested. Thanks!
I'm sure the Neuance shelf/platform will sound very good within the layered configuration.
BTW, this is the Liquid Nails adhesive I recommend to affix the inverted BDR Cones on top of the three 40mm X 10mm Carbon Fiber Discs, with Herbie's Audio Lab 40mm Thin grungebuster Dots positioned on the bottom. The adhesive is very easy to work with, and provides secure fastening with only a thin layer required. I recommend placing the shelf/platform on top of the footers while the adhesive dries, and weigh it down a bit with whatever is handy, being careful not to disturb the adhesive bonding process.
